Dirty Money
Time on stage: 14:00
Many years ago Mick Cartwright, Resident of Exeter and native of Manchester, started a new Band "Tumbleweed Connection".

Playing mainly "New Country", the band toured throughout England, together with several tours of American air bases in Germany.

Following a few line-up changes, the band developed in a new direction and with additional material; Blues, Funk and Rock, under the new Name Dirty Money, settled down to real jobs and music at the weekend.

Many drummer changes later, augmented by the addition of Keyboards and harp (from time to time), Dirty Money can still be seen around and about, with a handful of regular "Special Guests" and a crew of loyal helpers.

Sapphire
Time on stage: 19:15

Sapphire is celebrating - and not just because they've been chosen as one of the acts to play this year's Newt Beer Festival. In fact the band is celebrating 30 years in show business!

The style may have changed over the years (and the line up from time to time!) but quality and audience satisfaction have kept the band in great demand across the West Country.

Sapphire was formed in 1976 as a cabaret act, and over the next 15 years established an enviable reputation on the club circuit, appearing with such stars as Lenny Henry and Jim Davidson.

In 1985 Sapphire won spots on both of TV's top talent shows, New Faces and Opportunity Knocks.

Towards the late 80s the musical emphasis changed and Sapphire became a highly sought after dance band, appearing at many of the West's premier venues, including the Bournemouth International Centre.

Today the band continues a busy schedule on the dance circuit, performing covers from artists ranging from Robbie Williams to Shania Twain, from Abba to Status Quo.

The Newt Beer Festival is an ideal place to celebrate a 30th birthday!

Too Hot
Time on stage: 20:30

Too Hot are a Devon-based band influenced by traditional Jamaican ska, rocksteady beats and the two-tone sounds of Madness and The Specials. You want driving offbeat rhythms, sharp brass lines, swirling Hammond organ and classy vocals delivering tunes that stick in your head for days? Don't look any further….

The band have gained a formidable reputation as a live act, whether supporting household names such as Bad Manners and The Beat, legends of the ska scene such as Desmond Dekker and The Skatalites or headlining their own shows in the UK and mainland Europe. Their energetic performances and enthusiastic following lead to repeat bookings time and again.

At the last count the band's material had appeared on 11 compilation albums and tracks have been used by the BBC on hit show "DIY SOS" on which the band made a cameo appearance.

2005 saw the band, re-establishing them as a top name on the live scene through headline spots at outdoor festivals in their native South West and dates with established acts such as The Beat and The Selecter .

Over the past few years the band have written, recorded and released 2 EPs and 3 full-length albums of original material culminating in the 2006 release "Time Flies"

Flash Harry
Time on stage: 21:45

The mighty Flash Harry bring with them their very own brand of intoxicating mayhem. Guaranteed to uplift even the most down hearted of spirits, with fiddle fuelled cajun and Irish influenced jaunts through life's excesses, ups and downs and in betweens. Ably aided and abetted by sweeping blues and frantic slide guitar licks, souring saxophone, and a rock solid rhythm section.

Flash Harry (in more guises than one) must have been together for more years than they care to remember, 20 actually, but they never fail to make their set sound fresh and exciting, and never fail to get their audiences shouting for MORE! So get yourself to 'The Newt',  and be prepared to have a good time!
